Mini Goa in Punjab

Mini Goa in Punjab 1

The unexplored Mini Goa vibe can also be spotted on the Pathankot-Jalander highway in Punjab. Popularly known as Purthu beach, it is located at a distance of 12 km from Pathankot and 28 km from Bakloh, Jammu. It is an artificial beach situated on the bank of the river Ravi. You will have to cross the Atal Setu Bridge, which connects Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir. This bridge is also a tourist point as it is completely built on cables. One of the most significant hydroelectricity projects is the Ranjit Sagar Dam, one of Asia’s biggest dams, and is also the source and attraction point of Punjab. This dam connects 2 major states of India, Jammu and Punjab. This dam is the root of the breathtaking artificial lake, which gives Punjab a tourist spot for mini Goa.

Purtu beach, also known as Mini Goa, stands by its name, as the mesmerizing landscape, huge palm leaves, clear blue sky, and pleasant weather attract many tourists, especially on weekends. You may also find people here for pre-wedding shoots, song shoots and picnics. You can also enjoy the fun activities that this lake has to offer. Boat riding, motorboat, cycling, fishing, and you can also enjoy camping late at night, where the locals arrange tea and snacks. You can also cook and spend time with your friends and family under the silver rays falling on the clear water. The best time to visit this place is spring and autumn.

Essentials that you should carry while visiting this place are matt or a bedsheet, sunscreen to avoid tanning, a hat to get a shade from the rays of sun, a basket of snacks or munchies, a garbage bag to throw the waste (do not throw on the beach, keep your surroundings clean), a tiny speaker to enjoy the music with the calm waves.

All thanks to the Ranjit Sagar Dam, people from the north, mainly Punjab, Jammu and also Himachal or people on their way to Shimla (off route 12 km), can experience the Goa vibe in the north. If you are tired in this gloomy winter, this is the perfect destination to experience pleasant weather.
